New Charlie Parks Building Fully Operational
For the past 11 months, the development, construction and finishing of a new warehouse for the MDC Work Programs has been occurring. Within the past few weeks, the new facility became fully operational as a storage and holding facility for unfinished and finished goods that are waiting for processing or shipping.
In the past, these materials were held on the production floor of the main Work Programs building. This greatly reduced the amount of space available for jobs to be done by the MDC work force. Now, with the new available space, more work can occur simultaneously on the production floor. This creates a much greater opportunity to create more jobs for the people served by MDC. Also, this building would have never been built if it were not for the incredible people of First Baptist Church of Kingston who completed the majority of the construction in a two week period.
On a very sad note, the management team of MDC has been working to schedule a dedication ceremony to Charlie Parks for many months. Charlie had been experiencing increasing health issues for some time. Two weeks ago, Charlie passed away at his home. Charlie worked tirelessly for many years as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dunn Diversified Industries, a precursor to MDC Work Programs. He will be very missed by all who knew him as a man who held our mission very dear to his heart. Look for a dedication and memorial ceremony announcement to come soon as we work with Charlie's family to schedule this important event.
