Outpatient Therapy
The Michael Dunn Center Therapy Department opened our doors as a new Outpatient Therapy Center on April 4th, 2018. The center has been a work in progress since 2010. Michael Dunn Center hired our first licensed speech therapist in 2011, after credentialing with Medicare. Prior to that date all therapists were contracted through other companies.
The therapy department sees individuals who live in Michael Dunn Center homes, as well as homes in other agencies that are similar to Michael Dunn, across east Tennessee.
Michael Dunn Foundation received a grant from the Knights of Columbus for $7,000, allowing us to buy some much-needed equipment to update the existing therapy rooms, and expand to an Outpatient Center that you see here. Our own physical therapist Chris Molnar, who has been with us for 4 years, and is a true champion for therapy, was able to obtain much of the additional equipment in the new Therapy Center through donations from Methodist Medical Center/Covenant Health, due to Chris’ contacts there.
After a year-long credentialing process, staff building, policy and procedure writing, software updates, and training, the therapy department is ready to serve individuals not only who live in homes at Michael Dunn, but who live in the community and have similar needs.
Additionally, the Outpatient Center will also be able to see individuals without disabilities through workers comp insurance, as well as individuals without disabilities through their own private health insurance.
